3 Fashion Trends for Dressing Like a Southern Lady

I am always drawn back to my roots when I'm shopping for clothing. I love fashion that reminds me of where I'm from. I have memories of things I wore growing up, prints I saw my Mama and Grandmama wearing, and even styles I dressed my own daughter in when she was little. Memories make me smile and I like to include them in so many different areas of my life.

Today I'm showing you three different trends you can wear to dress like a Southern lady in 2020. By no means are these the only three, but these are my favorites right now. I hope you find something you love!

1. Ruffles

Ruffles are so ladylike. Whether on a sleeve or tiered down a dress, ruffles add a little touch of Southern charm. This ruffle swing dress is one you'll want in multiple colors. It's under $30, fully lined, and comes in many different colors. I just love the bright yellow!! I'm 5'4 and it hits right above my knee. It has a nice float to it as well and in insanely comfortable. This could be worn casual or dressy! Literally the perfect little summer dress.

2. Smocked Tops

If you hear the word "smocked' and are from the South you probably immediately think of little girls Easter dresses embroidered with their initials! I know I do! I love a good smocked dress for little girls and ladies alike. Smocked tops are all the rage right now and this white one with the ribbon shoulder ties has been my favorite top this summer. I always wear this smocked top with high rise jeans because it does have a little peek a boo at the tummy.

3. Tiny Florals + Flowy Dresses

Tiny florals is a very classic Southern print, Pair it with a flowy dress and it is Southern magic. The red floral dress reminds me so much of Little House on the Prairie. Its lightweight and so comfortable to wear. The belt is easy to remove also and doesn't have loops, so you can wear this without the belt making it even more comfortable. Ive worn this dressed up at church and around the house playing with H.
